“Sideloading” an app is the common term for installing it without downloading directly from the Google Play Store, internal App Store or MDM (Mobile Device Management).
This same basic procedure with work for any apk that you need to install.
Step-by-step guide
Connect your Android device to your PC via USB.
Once connected, go to My Computer, you should see your device in the drive list.
- If you do not see any folders inside your device (e.g. Internal Storage or SD Card storage), drag your notification bar down and look for the charging option. Click on it.
- Then select the option for transferring files (sometimes referred to as MTP).
Copy and paste the APK file to the root (sdcard folder) of the device.
On your device, select all Apps - My Files - All files. Tap the APK to install.
